Intranets in units of information: the impact or challenge?

O crescimento contínuo das redes informáticas interativas, canais de processamento e distribuição da informação-conhecimento está levando ao problema de gestão da informação em termos de abundância versus qualidades. A utilização de tecnologias como a intranet permite que unidades de informação, vinculadas às instituições de ensino superior, sejam pró-ativas na gestão e disseminação do capital intelectual destas organizações. A pesquisa, utilizando a metodologia de casos múltiplos e partindo de levantamento proporcionado por literatura específica do assunto, buscou verificar se os impactos descritos na referida literatura ocorreram nas bibliotecas investigadas. Conclui que o impacto maior ocorreu quando da introdução da Internet, não tendo sido constatado na implantação da intranet.@pt

The continued growth of interactive computer networks, processing and distribution channels of information-knowledge is leading to the problem of information management in terms of abundance versus qualities. The use of technologies such as intranet allows information units, linked to higher education institutions, be proactive in managing and disseminating the intellectual capital of these organizations. The research, using the methodology of multiple cases and building survey provided by the specific literature on the subject, sought to determine whether the impacts described in the literature that occurred in the libraries surveyed. It concludes that the most significant impact occurred in introducing the Internet and has not been found in the deployment of the intranet.@en
