Com este número, a Revista de Biblioteconomia de Brasília, RBB,retoma a sua publicação, que havia sido interrompida no segundofascfculo do volume 18, datado de 1990. Como tantas outras, a RBBhavia caído vítima dos problemas que atingiram tão duramente asociedade brasileira neste passado recente. A retomada de publicaçãoagora, com este fascfculo, volume 19, número 1, se deve exclusivamenteà coragem e à persistência do atual presidente da ABDF, José deAlbuquerque Moreira, e à dedicação de Edilenice Passos, a diretora deeditoração, que ignorando os pessimistas e acreditando na Revista,conseguiram vencer as inúmeras dificuldades encontradas pelo caminho.O meu papel, de editora, foi possível somente por causa do esforço e doapoio que eles proporcionaram. E o resultado é um fascículo visualmentebonito, bem cuidado, apresentando algumas inovações na apresentação.Fascículo que é o prenúncio de uma fase de qualidade crescente tambémem seus conteúdos.Este número é formado de três seções: Artigos, Comunicações eRecensões.A primeira seção traz dois artigos, por Sely M. de S. Costa e José deAlbuquerque Moreira. Sely M. de S. Costa discorre sobre as tecnologiasda informação e seus impactos na sociedade, especialmente sobre aeducação, emprego e bem-estar social. A autora tece consideraçõesgerais sobre o assunto, culminando com reflexões sobre o papel dosprofissionais da informação frente a essas tecnologias. O segundo artigo,de José de Albuquerque Moreira, discorre sobre a história recente dapolítica de informática no Brasil. Relata acontecimentos políticos quemarcaram esta história desde 1958, com o então presidente JuscelinoKubitschek e a criação, extinção e modificação das várias entidades àsquais foram atribuídas responsabilidades pela condução desses assuntos.Relata também o esforço nacional, especialmente de algumasuniversidades em São Paulo e Rio de Janeiro, e de empresas nacionais,para a fabricação nacional de computadores. A reserva de mercado,política que visava proteger este esforço, também é comentada.A seção de Comunicações vem dividida em quatro subseções:Relatos de experiências, Pesquisas em andamento, Teses e dissertações e Palestras. Em Relatos de experiências são reproduzidas duasexperiências profissionais recentes, ocorridas na Universidade Federal deParaná e no Senado Federal. A subseção Pesquisas em andamentoreproduz as propostas de pesquisas de teses de Doutorado apresentadasao Curso de Doutorado em Ciência da informação da Universidade deBrasília por Maria Elisabeth Salviati e a proposta de pesquisa de HarukaNakayama, apresentada ao Curso de Pós-Graduação em Lingüística daUniversidade de São Paulo. A subseção Teses e Dissertações apresentaquatro dissertações de mestrado defendidas recentemente. Pretendemosque estas duas subseções venham, nos próximos fascículos, registrarpesquisas em andamento e recentemente concluídas de um número bemmaior de pesquisadores, de todo o país. Convidamos portanto ospesquisadores a enviar-nos suas propostas e resumos. Na subseçãoPalestras estão reproduzidas três das 10 palestras que integraram o 1oCiclo de Palestras do Curso de Pós-Graduação do CID. Estes ciclos vãoocorrer a cada semestre letivo, e esperamos poder publicar um númerobem maior delas no próximo fascículo.E finalmente, na seção Recensões são comentadas três traduçõesrecentes da literatura profissional, com grande potencial didático.A retomada da publicação de uma revista profissional interrompidapor tanto tempo nunca é tarefa fácil. A RBB sempre manteve um altonível de qualidade. Todos os nossos esforços estão sendo dirigidos paraisto. A colaboração de nossos leitores, com críticas e sugestões serásempre muito bem-vinda.@pt

With this issue, the Journal of Librarianship Brasilia, RBB, returns to its publication, which had been interrupted in the second fascfculo volume 18, dated 1990. Like many others, had fallen victim to RBB of the problems that hit so hard the Brazilian society in the recent past. The resumption of publication now, with this fascfculo, volume 19, number 1, is due entirely to the courage and persistence of the current president of the ABDF, José Moreira de Albuquerque, and the dedication of Edilenice Passos, director of publishing, that ignoring the pessimistic and believing in the magazine, could overcome the many difficulties encountered along the way. My role, as editor, was possible only because of the effort and support they provided. And the result is an issue visually beautiful and well maintained, with some innovations in the presentation. Volume is the harbinger of a phase of increasing quality also in their content. This number is composed of three sections: articles, Information and Reviews. The first section has two articles by M. Selye S. Costa and José de Albuquerque Moreira. Selye M. S. Costa talks about information technologies and their impact on society, especially on education, employment and social welfare. The author gives some general remarks on the subject, culminating with reflections on the role of information professionals face these technologies. The second article, by José de Albuquerque Moreira, discusses the recent history of informatics policy in Brazil. Recounts the political events that have marked the history since 1958, with then-president Juscelino Kubitschek and the creation, extinguishment and modification of several entities which have been assigned responsibility for the conduct of these matters. He also reports the national effort, especially from some universities in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, and national companies, for local manufacture of computers. The reserve market policy aimed at protecting this effort, is also discussed. The Communications section is divided into four subsections: Experience reports, research in progress, theses and dissertations and lectures. In reports of experiences are played two recent professional experiences that occurred at the Federal University of Parana and the Senate. Subsection Ongoing research replicates the research proposals submitted Ph.D. thesis to the Doctoral Course in Information Science at the University of Brasilia by Elisabeth Maria Salviati and the proposed research Haruka Nakayama, presented to the Postgraduate Course in Linguistics, University São Paulo. Subsection Thesis presents four master dissertations lately. We intend that these two subsections will in the coming issues, register ongoing research and recently completed a much larger number of researchers across the country. Therefore invite researchers to send us your proposals and abstracts. In subsection Lectures are reproduced three of the 10 lectures that made up the first cycle of lectures on the Postgraduate Course of the CID. These cycles will occur every semester, and hope to publish many more of them in the next issue. And finally, are discussed in the section Book reviews three recent translations of professional literature, with great teaching potential. The resumption of publication of a professional journal interrupted for so long is never easy. The RBB has always maintained a high level of quality. All our efforts are being directed to do so. The cooperation of our readers, criticisms and suggestions will always be very welcome.@en
