Dupla conceituação de informação ambiental é aprsentada: como serviço de informação especializada e como uma metodologia político-filosófica. Enquanto serviço, ela trataria dados fatuais, documentos e informação interdisciplinar, visando apoiar grupos e organizações envolvidos com a proteção e o gerenciamento ambientais (ambiente físico, social e humano), bem como mobilizar a população em favor da causa ecológica. Como metodologia, a informação ambiental se fulcraria em valores filosóficos e culturais para ajudar os indivíduos a perceberem e analisarem a realidade física e social, bem como para apontar as responsabilidades da pessoa humana nesses contextos. Uma abordagem ecológica é, então, sugerida aos cursos de Biblioteconomia, visando à formação de atitude ecológica positiva nos futuros bibliotecários.@pt

Dual concepts of environmental information is presented to: as an information service specialist and as a political and philosophical methodology. As a service, it would deal with factual data, documents and information disciplines, to support groups and organizations involved with environmental protection and management (physical environment, social and human) as well as mobilize the population for the ecological cause. As a methodology, environmental information is key in philosophical and cultural values to help individuals to perceive and analyze the physical and social reality and to point out the responsibilities of the individual in those contexts. An ecological approach is then suggested to librarianship courses, aiming at the formation of positive ecological attitude in future librarians.@en
