It discuss citation studies according to its treatment and proper indications when referencing scientific texts. It presents examples of types of different reference indications using contents of a Master Degree document of a post-graduate program revealing the repercussions of these indications for the results of a citation analysis. This study brings suggestions of how to deal with reference indications of authorship, title of journal, year of publication and nature of the source of information when referencing scientific papers.@en
