La Biblioteca Nacional de México participó de manera relevante en el desarrollo de la bibliotecología y la corriente bibliográfica de este país, pues en ella se formaron quienes promoverían la apertura de la primera Escuela de Biblioteconomía, que funcionó unos años en la propia biblioteca, donde se dio capacitación al personal en las materias de catalogación y clasificación, entre otras. Además, la Biblioteca Nacional fue pionera en la producción de la literatura adecuada para apoyar los estudios bibliotecológicos, proceso que cerró finalmente su proyecto de profesionalización iniciado con la apertura a nivel maestría de las carreras de Biblioteconomía y Archivonomía en la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras de la UNAM.@es

The National Library of Mexico played an important role in the development of librarianship and the bibliographical movement in this country, because it was there where the first individuals who promoted the opening of the first School of Library Management were formed; the later operated a few years within the National Library and the staff would be given training in the areas of cataloging and classification, among others. In addition, the National Library was a pioneer in the production of appropriate literature to support the studies of this profession, a process which finally closed its professionalization project that had begun with the opening of the Master’s degree in Library and File Management (Archival Science) at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the National University of Mexico.@en
