Some social impacts of scientific and technological development

Desde a pré-história, os seres humanos têm procurado entender o Universo e transformar o meio ambiente em que vivem valendo-se das disponibilidades materiais e da compreensão e uso dos fenômenos naturais que ocorrem na Terra. O presente trabalho identifica e analisa alguns macro impactos sociais causados por transformações recentes na ambiência humana resultantes dessas atividades que, modernamente, são consideradas como pertinentes ao campo do conhecimento científico e do desenvolvimento tecnológico, bem como das conseqüentes inovações. São abordadas a priorização política dessas atividades pelos governos nacionais, a imprevisibilidade do futuro das sociedades ainda que a curto prazo, o descompasso entre a nova realidade social resultante do avanço científico e tecnológico e a capacidade de adaptação dos cidadãos e de reorganização dos grupos ou entidades sociais para o trato dessa nova realidade, o aumento da expectativa de vida e a diminuição das horas de trabalho, a produção e a competição sem fronteiras, os impactos na educação e nas relações de trabalho e, finalmente, a concentração de poder político, econômico e militar.@pt

Since prehistorian times the human beings have interested in understand the universe and to transform the environment where they live using available materials and knowledge and the use of the natural phenomena that occur in earth. the present work identifies and analyzes some macro social impacts caused by recent transformations in the human environment as result of these activities that, modernly, are considered as pertinent to the field of the scientific knowledge and the technological development and innovations. priority is given in the analysis of the political importance of these activities for national governments, the probability to perform in societies future in short-term; the gap between the new social reality of the scientific and technological advance. the article looks, as well, to the capacity of adaptation of citizens and the reorganization of entities and social groups for working in this new reality. the analysis go, as well, to study the increase in life expectancy , the diminishing work time, the production and competition played in large scale. military, political and economic power is, also, discussed as well as the education impact and work relationship.@en
