Considerando-se o acesso à informação como a questão básica da ciência da informação, constata-se que é possível segmentar esse campo pelo tipo de informação a que se procura facilitar o acesso: informação publicada especializada, informação publicada não-especializada e informação não-publicada. As características peculiares desses segmentos vão determinar a forma que os nomes dos profissionais neles atuantes podem tomar, as disciplinas importantes, a pesquisa, além de outros aspectos relacionados com a formação na área do conhecimento.@pt
