Preservation of Correspondence: the e-mail in the scientifíc and technological laboratories

O artigo analisa a questão da preservação da correspondência eletrônica tendo como objeto de estudo os laboratórios científicos e tecnológicos das instituições de pesquisa do Ministério da Ciência e Tecnologia na cidade do Rio de Janeiro. São levantadas as definições, vantagens e desvantagens da utilização dos e-mails, bem como os desafios para os arquivistas. Foi realizada uma entrevista com aplicação de questionário e as respostasforam agrupadas em categoriaspara melhor análise. Verificou-se que a maioria dos entrevistadospreserva o e-mail noformato eletrônico e que estessão considerados de caráterpessoal do cientista. Verificou-se também que os problemas apresentados na literatura correspondem aos enfrentados nos laboratórios científicos.@pt

This paper analvses the preservation ofelectronic correspondence by studying the scientifíc and technological laboratoriesfrom the Science and Technology’ Ministry at the city ofRio de Janeiro. It raises up definitions, advantages and disadvantages ofthe e-mails uses, as well as the challenges for the archivists. The project has made some interviews applying the questionnaires and the answers were grouped into categoriesfor better analyze. Theproject verified thatthe majorpart ofthe interviewspreserves the e-mails on the electronicformat and thatthe scientists consider them asprivate. Theproject also verified that theproblemspresented by the literature are the samefaced atthe scientifíc laboratories.@en
