Information Design, converging languages and complexity in the social web and digital environment of Facebook

O design, por meio das linguagens que põe em ação, permite pensar o mundo: “ [...] penso, logo existo” (DESCARTES). Permite visualizar, planejar, criar. Agregado às tecnologias computacionais, o design pode desempenhar um papel de retroalimentação no mundo de representações em que vivemos. Na década de 1940, Ladislav Sutnar fundou o Design de Informação como disciplina, baseado na prevalência da funcionalidade sobre a estética, com o intuito de controlar e organizar a informação para comunicá-la com eficácia. As TIC contribuíram para o desenvolvimento gráfico, que no suporte eletrônico pode migrar de uma interface abstrata e simbólica (a página escrita) para uma interface icônica realista (a tela) constituída por simulação e por elementos de linguagem imagética. Os sistemas das redes convergentes de compartilhamento propõem desafios técnicos e tecnológicos, que necessitam ser enfrentados para que sejam efetivas como construtoras de conhecimento coletivo e para que possam enfrentar ainda os desafios de caráter sociotécnicos. Para pensar Design de Convergência em seu estágio atual na Internet, consideraremos o ambiente digital do Facebook, ainda em crescimento, mas com 500 milhões de usuários  e com taxa de cerca de 100 milhões de novos usuários a cada 6 meses. Consideraremos no ambiente do Facebook dois tipos de convergência que denominaremos “Estrutura da Interface” e “¿Super estrutura?- Design e Cultura”. Buscamos nessa relação considerar as mudanças culturais advindas de ambientes com design convergente. A hibridização midiática e a hibridização sujeito/mídias se tramam e criam emergências sistêmicas. Tendo em vista tais emergências, nossa percepção é do surgimento de uma progressiva reequilibração do sistema convergido por  formações culturais metamidiaticas, ou seja, resultantes da confluência das mídias e de suas linguagens, porém delas já independentes, auto portantes. Podemos estudar as disciplinas que poderão levar-nos a um uso consciente do meio, a um melhor relacionamento humano, a um melhor conhecimento de nós mesmos e do mundo. O design pode ser aprendido como disciplina, linguagem, tecnologia e forma de reação aos nossos limites. Pode também ser associado TIC de maneira estratégica para nossa sobrevivência como espécie.@pt

In the 1940s, Ladislav Sutnar founded Information Design as a discipline, based on the prevalence of functionality over aesthetics, in order to control and organize information to communicate it effectively. Information and Communication Technologies contributed to the development of graphics, which, in electronic media can migrate from an abstract and symbolic interface (written page) to an iconic realistic interface (the screen) constituted by simulation and elements of imagery language. Systems of converging sharing networks propose technical and technological challenges that need to be addressed in order to be effective as builders of collective knowledge and face the challenges of socio-technical character. to think Converging Design in its current stage on the Internet, we consider the digital environment of Facebook, still growing, but with 500 million users and a growing rate of about 100 million new users every six months. This study considers the Facebook environment with two types of convergence we refer to as Interface Structure and ¿Super structure? - Design and Culture. We seek to consider the cultural changes resulting from convergent design environments. The media hybridization and hybridization subject/media may conspire and create systemic emergencies. Before such emergencies, our perception is the emergence of a progressive rebalancing of the converged system by metamidiatic cultural formations, i.e., resulting from the confluence of media and their languages, but independent of them already, auto-born. We can study the subjects that may lead us to a conscious use of the environment, a better human relationship, a better understanding of ourselves and the world. The design can be learned as a discipline, language, technology and form of reaction to our limits. It can also be associated to ICT strategically to our survival as a species.@en
