MAPPING OF THE COLLECTION OF MEMORY ENGINEER FRANCISCO MARTINS BASTOS - NuME

The Francisco Martins Bastos Engineer Memory Center of the Federal University of Rio Grande – FURG, The established in 1994, has aimed since its inception to engage the academic community and FURG graduates in preserving a part of the University´s history. This preservation is achieved by maintaining various research materials within its collections. Consequently, the primary goal of this work was to conduct a diagnostic assessment of the Memory Center. This required mapping the collections housed in the Center and analyzing the gathered information to identify potential gaps, issues, or challenges. Following methodological guidelines for archival diagnosis, it was advised to establish standardized procedures for managing and organizing the collections. Additionally, there should be a focus on developing processes and policies that emphasize management routines, preservation, accessibility, and enhancing engagement with the community. This is crucial given the collection´s significance to institutional memory, historical and cultural value, and scientific relevance. Given the data collected, it was found that archival diagnosis is a crucial step in the management of information resources, whose importance is magnified in different environments that require high precision and integrity of data, more precisely in those that deal with the memory of an institution, as is the case with the FURG Memory Center.@en

O Núcleo de Memória Engenheiro Francisco Martins Bastos da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande – FURG, criado no ano de 1994, tem, desde a sua concepção, o propósito de mobilizar a comunidade acadêmica, rio-grandina e os egressos da FURG com vistas a salvaguarda de parte da história da Universidade por meio da preservação de diferentes fontes de pesquisas materializadas em seus acervos. Por isso, o trabalho teve por objetivo geral realizar o diagnóstico do Núcleo de Memória, para isso, foram necessários mapear os acervos custodiados no Núcleo e analisar as informações coletadas com o intuito de identificar possíveis lacunas, problemas ou desafios. A partir das diretrizes metodológicas de diagnóstico de arquivo, recomendou-se a necessidade de se estabelecer um padrão de tratamento e organização dos acervos, somado à criação de processos e políticas com foco nas rotinas de gestão, preservação, acesso e a ampliação da sua interlocução com a sociedade, dada a importância dos acervos para a memória institucional, do seu valor histórico e cultural bem como, do seu caráter científico. Diante dos dados coletados, constatou-se que o diagnóstico de arquivo é uma etapa crucial na gestão de recursos informacionais, cuja importância é ampliada em diferentes ambientes que exigem alta precisão e integridade dos dados, mais precisamente naqueles que tratam da memória de uma instituição, como é o caso do Núcleo de Memória da FURG.@pt
