Biomedical indexing: its thesauri, databases and representation of the thematic content of the specialized bibliography

The article that appears here consists of a bibliographical review focused on the processes inherent to the representation of the thematic content of an information resource, both with regard to the elaboration of a bibliographical reference aimed at the identification of this resource, as well as in the referring to making its subsequent recovery possible, with the aim of recovering useful information from the most diverse specialists, thus making it possible to locate reliable, pertinent and updated information, in support of teaching work; academic and scientific research. In addition, the topic of the most important thesauri for Public Health in Cuba is dis- cussed, since their knowledge is scarce at a conceptual level by students and health professionals, as well as from the point of view of their characteristics and fundamental criteria, to which is added its importance in indexing and locating scientific information, tasks for which these thesauri are indispensable instruments.@en

El artículo que aquí figura, consiste en una revisión bibliográfica centrada en los procesos inherentes a la representación del contenido temático de un recurso de información, tanto en lo tocante a la elaboración de una referencia bibliográfica dirigida a la identificación de este recurso, como en lo referente a hacer posible su posterior recobro, con el objetivo de recuperar información útil y proveniente de los más diversos especialistas, haciendo posible de este modo la localización de información confiable, pertinente y actualizada, en apoyo a las labores docentes; académicas y de investigación científica. Se toca el tema, además, de los tesauros de mayor importancia para la salud pública en Cuba, toda vez que es escaso su conocimiento a nivel conceptual por parte de educandos y profesionales de la salud, así como desde el punto de vista de sus características y criterios fundamentales, a lo cual se añade su importancia en la indización y a efectos de la localización de información científica, labores para las cuales dichos tesauros constituyen instrumentos indispensables.@es
