Seeking to contribute to the discussions regarding the insertion of the information professional in the contemporary job market, the present study analyzes the new possibilities of action for the librarian, putting on the agenda their competences onthe application of the new Information and Communication Technologies. In this context, the research has as general objective to identify the contemporary tendencies of the librarian´s performance as an information professional. To do so, the methodology brings a basic approach composed of an exploratory bibliographic survey. In order to improve the study, an integrative literature review is used, in which the new informational demands and professional services in this area are discussed, especially related to the theme of entrepreneurship. In the practical context, newnomenclatures and real cases of information entrepreneurs with training in Librarianship are presented. With this, the study concludes that there is a need to expand the new informational scenarios, to be carried out by professionals trained inthe area of Librarianship. @en
