The purpose of this research is to identify and examine the documentary series related to the governmental function in the Order of Alcántara through the documentation kept in the Ecclesiastical Archives of Mérida-Badajoz, which today are the custodians of the documentation generated by the extinct order (15th-19th centuries). For this purpose, both the series related to the internal government of the Order and those about its relation with civil, military and ecclesiastical entities have been exhaustively analyzed. The result of this analysis allow us to know the governmental processes undertaken by the Order in Extremadura exhaustively and offer researchers possible lines of investigation based on the analysis of the aforementioned documentation.@en
