A curation model to integrate digital heritage collections published on the Web as Linked Open Data

Context: Heritage objects have been represented and published on the Web asLinked Open Data - LOD. Such collections have cultural value because they are theresult of curation processes carried out by these institutions; many have thematicintersections or are related to other web resources. The potential of theseinitiatives depends on which digital objects from these collections are integrated,related to each other and to other entities such as authors, themes, events,historical periods and places. This integration is not “a priori”, it is the result ofcuration “a posteriori” to the publication of the collections as LOD. Vocabulariesand classification schemes are important as they provide meaning and context tothe data.Problem: How to integrate digital objects from these collections with each otherand with other resources, forming curated, permanent information resources withgreater cultural value, such as exhibitions, classes, museums or virtual libraries onthemes, characters or cultural or historical events?Objectives: Integrate previously developed vocabularies - Culturally RelevantRelationships - CRR - and Classification of Types of Heritage Objects - TOP -, amongothers, into a curation model for digital heritage objects - MIC - to make thempermanent resources, copyright and reusable.Methodology: bibliographic and documental research, analysis ofvocabularies/ontologies, identification of usage requirements to be used in thedevelopment and evaluation of the model.Results: The MIC is presented as a class diagram, and validated by the tasks of thedigital curator and users. The model integrates several vocabularies, models andontologies. An implementation of MIC is presented as a named graph.@en

Contexto: Objetos de Patrimônio, Memória e Cultura vem sendo representados epublicados na Web como Dados Abertos Interligados - DAI. Estas coleções têm valorcultural porque resultam de processos de curadoria realizados por estas instituições;muitas têm interseções temáticas ou estão relacionados a outros recursos web. Opotencial destas iniciativas depende de que objetos digitais destas coleções sejamintegrados, relacionados entre si e com outras entidades como autores, temas, eventos,períodos históricos e lugares. Esta integração não é “a priori”, é resultado da curadoria“a posteriori” à publicação dos acervos como DAI. Vocabulários e esquemas declassificações são importantes, pois fornecem significado e contexto aos dados.Problema: Como integrar objetos digitais destas coleções entre si em com outrosrecursos, formando recursos informacionais curados, permanentes, com maior valorcultural, como exposições, aulas, museus ou bibliotecas virtuais sobre temas,personagens ou eventos culturais ou históricos?Objetivos: Integrar vocabulários previamente desenvolvidos –Relações CulturalmenteRelevantes – CRR - e Classificação de Tipos de Objetos Patrimoniais – TOP -, entreoutros, em um modelo de curadoria para objetos de patrimônio, memória e culturadigitais – MIC - para torná-los recursos permanentes, autorais e reusáveis.Metodologia: pesquisa bibliográfica e documental, análise de vocabulários/ontologias,identificação de requisitos de uso a serem usados no desenvolvimento e avaliação domodelo.Resultados: O MIC é apresentado como um diagrama de classes, e validado pelastarefas do curador digital e dos usuários.
