Aesthetic and epistemic insurgencies in the Anthropocene: indigenous peoples and the retaking of the Atlantic Rainforest in southern Bahia

This paper presents a critical perspective on the concept of the Anthropocene from a political ecology perspective, emphasizing the inequalities in the production of the catastrophic situation of climate emergency. Based on indigenous epistemologies, it discusses the relationship between decolonization and ways out of the crisis. Based on a research project that brought together indigenous art and mapping of environmental conflicts, we focus on the case of indigenous retaking of territories in southern Bahia and the reconstruction of the Atlantic Rainforest through the work of three indigenous artists: Arissana Pataxó, Glicéria Tupinambá and Olinda Muniz Wanderley (Yawar Tupinambá)@en

Este artigo apresenta uma perspectiva crítica do conceito do Antropoceno a partir da ecologia política, enfatizando as desigualdades na produção da situação catastrófica de emergência climática. A partir das epistemologias indígenas, discute-se a relação entre descolonização e saídas da crise. Tendo por base um projeto de pesquisa que uniu arte indígena e mapeamento de conflitos ambientais, tratamos do caso das retomadas indígenas no sul da Bahia, a reconstrução da Mata Atlântica a partir do trabalho de três artistas indígenas: Arissana Pataxó, Glicéria Tupinambá e Olinda Muniz Wanderley (Yawar Tupinambá)@pt
