The article traces a genealogy of the Anthropocene imaginary of the last two centuries, through literary works, in search of tropes and cultural forms that shaped public perception on the subject. It starts from the hypothesis that these shared imaginaries concern both the lenses used to interpret current phenomena and actions, considering the interpretations of the past, as well as the definition of horizons of possibility. It selects and discusses pioneering science fiction authors (Verne, Wells), authors from the 1960s to contemporary literary production. It concludes that the capacity of narrative and artistic imagination of these works allows stimulating emotional, aesthetic and life experiences that allow a better understanding of the Anthropocene and its implications@en
