The preservation of the collection of a university library in the city of Salvador facing the post-custodial paradigm

This article aims to analyze how the conservation and preservation of the library collection belonging to a Higher Education Institution in the City of Salvador was carried out, from the perspective of the post-custodial paradigm. The research was developed from a case study; as for the objectives, the research was characterized as descriptive and as for its approach, it is qualitative. For data collection, direct observation was used, as well as the report of library employees, through semi-structured interviews. The results showed that the lack of concern, on the part of the HEI managers and the information professionals involved, with the conservation of the collection caused the loss of rare works, especially in the area of ​​accounting, and also of personal collections of Bahian academics, such as also in the information loss that these supports preserved, due to the lack of a coherent collections policy and the lack of preparation of professionals who were not prepared for the balanced transition between the custodial and post-custodial paradigms.@en

Esse artigo tem por objetivo analisar como foi realizada a conservação e preservação do acervo da biblioteca pertencente a uma Instituição de Ensino Superior, da Cidade de Salvador, sob a perspectiva do paradigma pós-custodial. A pesquisa desenvolveu-se a partir de um estudo de caso; quanto aos objetivos a pesquisa caracterizou-se como descritiva e quanto a sua abordagem ela é qualitativa. Para coleta de dados, utilizou-se a observação direta, como também se coletou o relato de funcionários da biblioteca, por meio de entrevista semiestruturada. Os resultados apontaram que a falta de preocupação, por parte dos gestores da IES e dos profissionais da informação envolvidos, com a conservação do acervo acarretou a perda de obras raras, sobretudo na área da contabilidade, e também de acervos pessoais de acadêmicos baianos, como também na perda informacional que esses suportes preservavam, pela falta de uma política de coleções coerente e pela falta de preparo dos profissionais que não estavam preparados para a transição equilibrada entre os paradigmas custodial e pós-custodial.@pt
