The article deals with Derek Wilton Langridge´s legacy for teaching and research in the field of Knowledge Organization. It addresses their academic background, professional activities, participation in the CRG and scientific production, highlighting classification and indexing activities and their impact on Educational for Knowledge Organization. The methodological approach allowed researchers to show that Langridge´s seminal works contributed to the theory, practice, teaching and development of Knowledge Organization as a domain as well as to the information professional education. Derek Wilton Langridge´s biobibliographic survey and the approach of commentators on his work. The objective is to highlight Derek Wilton Langridge´s contribution to teaching and research in knowledge organization in undergraduate and graduate programs in Library Science and Information Science in Brazil.@en

O artigo trata do legado de Derek Wilton Langridge para o ensino e a pesquisa no âmbito da organização do conhecimento. Aborda a sua formação acadêmica, atividades profissionais, participação no Classification Research Group de Londres [CRG] e produção científica, destacando as atividades de classificação e indexação e seus reflexos na educação em organização do conhecimento. Abordagem metodológica: levantamento biobibliográfico de Derek Wilton Langridge e a abordagem de comentadores de sua obra por meio do levantamento bibliográfico realizado na BRAPCI e na Scopus. Objetiva destacar a contribuição de Derek Wilton Langridge para o ensino e a pesquisa em organização do conhecimento por citações de suas obras em programas de graduação e de pós-graduação em Biblioteconomia e Ciência da Informação no Brasil. A abordagem metodológica utilizada nos permitiu alcançar resultados que revelam que Langridge contribuiu para a teoria, a prática, o ensino e o desenvolvimento da organização do conhecimento com suas obras seminais bem como para a construção de esquemas de classificação especializados.@pt
