O ir e vir dos deficientes visuais: barreiras arquitetônicas e acadêmicas na UFMT

Este estudo percorre os caminhos dos deficientes visuais no Campus de Rondonópolis da Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso (UFMT) para conhecer as barreiras arquitetônicas encontradas por eles e por aqueles com visão subnormal no seu ir e vir universitário. Investigou-se também a ação educativa dos docentes em relação aos discentes com essa deficiência. Optou-se por desenvolver uma pesquisa com nove alunos que estudaram na UFMT, nos últimos sete anos, e com os professores que lecionaram para eles. O referencial teórico apresenta considerações e definições que tratam do deficiente visual e seu acesso à informação, do sistema Braille, dos bibliotecários e das tecnologias no ambiente informacional e da acessibilidade no aspecto arquitetônico. Constatou-se que o Campus de Rondonópolis tem pouca estrutura acadêmica para atender os docentes no desenvolvimento das atividades com os alunos deficientes visuais, mas proporciona um ambiente profícuo e germinador, capaz de potencializar saberes, conhecimentos e informações.Palavras-chaveAcessibilidade. Sistema braile.The blind´s coming in and going out: architectonic ad academic barriers in the Federal University of Mato Grosso State (UFMT)AbstractThe following study focus on the accessibility of visually impaired individuals at UFMT/Campus Rondonópolis. It tried to identify which architectural barriers are existent at the Campus for blindness and subnormal vision individuals, and also how the professors deal with students who present that disability.In order to reach that objective, it was developed a research involving nine students who have studied and still study at UFMT in the past seven years, and some professors who taught those impaired students. The theoretical benchmark presents considerations and definitions which are related to the visually impaired and his access to information, to Braille system, to librarians and to technologies in the informational environment and accessibility at the architectural environment. It could be seen that the Campus Rondonópolis doesn´t have academic structure to give support to professors develop their activities with visually impaired students, and it doesn´t offer infrastructure to meet what is determined in the law of accessibility as well.KeywordsAccessibility at UFMT.
