                                            [0] => This study examines journalistic coverage of AIDS in Brazil during the 1980s, emphasizing the role of language in the production of social stigmas. In this context, initial scientific uncertainty, combined with sensationalist media approaches, favored the association of the disease with male homosexuality. Based on this observation, the research aimed to map and analyze the most recurrent terminologies used in the press, with the purpose of understanding how these lexical choices reinforced discriminatory representations and consolidated collective imaginaries anchored in fear and blame.The investigation is qualitative, with a documental and bibliographic nature, grounded in the Communicative Theory of Terminology and Critical Discourse Analysis. The corpus was constructed through a systematic survey in the Digital Newspaper Library of the National Library of Brazil, encompassing articles published between 1980 and 1989 in seven national and regional newspapers. In addition, official reports from the Centers for Disease Control  were consulted to contextualize the emergence of the syndrome in the international scenario. he results provide contributions to Knowledge Organization by systematizing a terminological repertoire that may be integrated into controlled vocabularies and information-retrieval instruments. It is concluded that the press played a significant role in reproducing prejudice and consolidating stigmas, thereby hindering the development of public health responses grounded in equity and scientific rigor. Terminological analysis, combined with a discursive perspective, demonstrates the relevance of journalistic information in the social construction of AIDS.
                                            [1] => O estudo analisa a cobertura jornalística da Aids no Brasil durante a década de 1980, destacando o papel da linguagem na produção de estigmas sociais. Nesse contexto, o desconhecimento científico inicial, aliado ao sensacionalismo midiático, favoreceu a associação da doença à homossexualidade masculina. Diante dessa constatação, buscou-se mapear e modelar, sob perspectiva terminológico-discursiva e da Organização do Conhecimento, o repertório de termos estigmatizantes associados à Aids na imprensa brasileira dos anos 1980, de modo a explicitar uma estrutura categorial passível de integração a vocabulários controlados e a estratégias de recuperação da informação em acervos hemerográficos. A pesquisa caracteriza-se como qualitativa, de natureza documental e bibliográfica, fundamentada na Teoria Comunicativa da Terminologia e na Análise Crítica do Discurso. O corpus foi constituído a partir de levantamento sistemático na Hemeroteca Digital da Biblioteca Nacional, abrangendo matérias publicadas entre 1980 e 1989 em sete jornais brasileiros de circulação nacional e regional. Como complemento, foram consultados relatórios oficiais do Centers for Disease Control, a fim de contextualizar a emergência da síndrome no cenário internacional. Os resultados oferecem subsídios para a Organização do Conhecimento, ao sistematizar um repertório terminológico passível de integração a vocabulários controlados e instrumentos de recuperação da informação. Conclui-se que a imprensa exerceu papel intenso na reprodução de preconceitos e na consolidação de estigmas, dificultando a formulação de respostas em saúde pública pautadas na equidade e no rigor científico. A análise terminológica, articulada à perspectiva discursiva, evidencia a relevância da informação jornalística na construção social da Aids.
