                    [0] => Objective: To discuss orality as a central element for the preservation and perpetuation of collective memory, analyzing its relationship with forgetting and with informational processes in the field of Information Science, especially within memory institutions.
Methods: This is a qualitative, theoretical-bibliographical study based on classical and contemporary works in Information Science, memory studies and orality, neuroscience and related areas. Authors such as Halbwachs, Ricoeur, Assmann, Huyssen, Buckland, González de Gomes, Dodebei, Dias, Ong and Zumthor, among others, were mobilized to articulate interdisciplinary perspectives on information, memory, forgetting and intangible cultural heritage.
Results: The study shows that orality goes beyond the simple dimension of speech, configuring itself as a communicational and cultural system that produces, transmits and resignifies individual and collective knowledge. It demonstrates that, in Information Science, orality can be understood simultaneously as a legitimate information source, object and process, in dialogue with practices of organization, preservation and mediation of information in archives, libraries, museums and documentation centers. The analysis also indicates that memory and forgetting form a dialectical binomial, in which decisions about recording, keeping, providing access, or silencing have a direct impact on the construction of collective memory and on the visibility of historically marginalized groups.
Conclusions: It is concluded that recognizing orality as informational heritage and as a constitutive memory is fundamental to strengthening preservation and cultural mediation policies and practices within memory institutions. The systematic incorporation of oral records into documentary collection contributes to pluralizing narratives, filling historical gaps and expanding the representativeness of subjects and communities, especially in contexts marked by strong cultural diversity and inequalities in access to writing, such as the Brazilian reality.@en
                    [1] => Objetivo: Discutir a oralidade como elemento central para a preservação e a perpetuação da memória coletiva, analisando suas relações com o esquecimento e com os processos informacionais no âmbito da Ciência da Informação, em especial nas instituições de memória.
 Método: Trata-se de um estudo de natureza qualitativa, com caráter teórico-bibliográfico, fundamentado em obras clássicas e contemporâneas da Ciência da Informação, dos estudos da memória e da oralidade, da neurociência e de áreas afins. Foram mobilizados autores como Halbwachs, Ricoeur, Assmann, Huyssen, Buckland, González de Gomes, Dodebei, Dias, Ong e Zumthor, entre outros, buscando articular perspectivas interdisciplinares sobre informação, memória, esquecimento e patrimônio cultural imaterial.
 Resultado: Através da pesquisa ficou evidenciado que a oralidade extrapola a simples dimensão da fala, configurando-se como sistema comunicacional e cultural que produz, transmite e ressignifica saberes individuais e coletivos. Demonstra-se que, na Ciência da Informação, a oralidade pode ser compreendida simultaneamente como fonte, objeto e processo informacional legítimo, em diálogo com práticas de organização, preservação e mediação da informação e arquivos, bibliotecas, museus e centros de documentação. Mostra-se, ainda, que memória e esquecimento formam um binômio dialético, no qual decisões sobre registrar, guardar, disponibilizar ou silenciar impactam diretamente a construção da memória coletiva e a visibilidade de grupos historicamente marginalizados.
 Conclusões: Conclui-se que reconhecer a oralidade como patrimônio informacional e como elemento constitutivo da memória coletiva é fundamental para fortalecer políticas de preservação e mediação cultural nas instituições de memória. A incorporação sistemática de registros orais aos acervos documentais contribui para pluralizar narrativas, preencher lacunas históricas e ampliar a representatividade de sujeitos e comunidades, especialmente em contextos marcados por forte diversidade cultural e desigualdades de acesso à escrita, como o brasileiro.@pt
