                                            [0] => Introduction: Benedito Leite is an important public cultural space in the State of Maranhão, whose actions are aimed at providing Maranhão citizens with access to different informational resources and cultural manifestations promoted in its spaces. Objective: This study aims to describe the perception of the participants of the educational services of the Benedito Leite Public Library focused on the preservation of memory. Methodology: This is an exploratory and descriptive research, with a quantitative and qualitative approach, which made use of systematic observation with a logbook and questionnaires applied to 62 (sixty-two) users participating in the educational services developed by the Benedito Leite Public Library. Results: The users explain a series of facts that Benedito Leite reminds them of, the relationship that the institution establishes with its history, social milestones and the circumstances of these events. It is pointed out that no matter how different the profiles of Benedito Leite users are, their statements converge on the importance of the institution for the preservation of history, memory, material and immaterial heritage. It is reinforced that the users highlighted in their statements aspects such as culture, knowledge, history, heritage, memory, preservation and conservation. Conclusion: Benedito Leite, by mediating and disseminating cultural heritage through its educational products and services, enables the reconstruction of the memory of the citizens of Maranhão and the creation of bonds, made explicit by the symbolic and affective contours between its users and professionals.
                                            [1] => Introdução: A Benedito Leite é um importante espaço cultural público no Estado do Maranhão, cujas ações são voltadas para proporcionar aos cidadãos maranhenses o acesso a diferentes recursos informacionais e manifestações culturais promovidos em seus espaços. Objetivo: Estudo que objetiva descrever a percepção dos participantes dos serviços educativos da Biblioteca Pública Benedito Leite voltados para a preservação da memória. Metodologia: Trata-se de uma pesquisa de caráter exploratório e descritivo, de abordagem quantitativa e qualitativa, que fez uso de observação sistemática com diário de bordo e questionários aplicados junto a 62 (sessenta e dois) usuários participantes dos serviços educativos desenvolvidos pela Biblioteca Pública Benedito Leite. Resultados: Os usuários explicitam uma série de fatos cuja Benedito Leite os fazem rememorar, a relação que a instituição estabelece com sua história, marcos sociais e as circunstâncias desses acontecimentos. Pontua-se que por mais distintos que sejam os perfis dos usuários da Benedito Leite, suas falas convergem quanto a importância da instituição para a preservação da história, da memória, do patrimônio material e imaterial. Reforça-se que os usuários destacaram em suas falas aspectos como cultura, conhecimento, história, patrimônio, memória, preservação e conservação. Conclusão: A Benedito Leite, ao mediar e difundir o patrimônio cultural por meio de seus produtos e serviços educativos, possibilita a reconstrução da memória dos cidadãos maranhenses e a criação de laços, explicitados pelos contornos simbólicos e afetivos entre seus usuários e profissionais.
