                    [0] => Objectives: Academic social networking platforms have introduced new dimensions to scholarly communication and research visibility. ResearchGate provided alternative metrics reflecting online engagement, while Scopus offers standardized citation-based indicators. This study aimed to examine the relationship between ResearchGate indicators and Scopus metrics among faculty members of Abadan University of Medical Sciences.
Methodology: This descriptive-analytical scientometric study included 122 faculty members of Abadan University of Medical Sciences. The data were collected using a structured checklist from the ResearchGate and Scopus databases. The following variables were included in the study: publication count, citations, h-index, and g-index (Scopus), as well as ResearchGate indicators such as reads, citations, followers, following, questions, answers, and h-index. The collected data were then subjected to analysis using SPSS version 21, which entailed the implementation of descriptive statistics and a Spearman’s correlation test.
Results: Among the participants, 67.69% had 1–10 indexed publications, and 81.15% had active ResearchGate profiles. A total of 69.66% of the sample had an h-index below 5, while 25.40% had zero values for both h-index and g-index. Correlation analysis revealed that citation-based ResearchGate indicators exhibited comparatively robust associations with Scopus metrics, particularly between ResearchGate h-index and Scopus h-index. Conversely, interaction-based indicators demonstrated either weak or negligible correlations.
Conclusion: ResearchGate citation-related indicators show limited to moderate associations with Scopus metrics, while interaction-based metrics demonstrate weak relationships. These findings suggest that ResearchGate indicators may complement, but do not replace, standardized citation-based measures in research evaluation.@en
