[0] => This study analyzes the frontispieces of 16th-century printed works held in the Zaguán Repository at the University of Zaragoza. The main objective is to locate and examine these architectural structures on the frontispieces in order to further research into their characteristics and models, as well as to propose their use as a teaching aid in the subject of Old Collections. A quantitative methodology and content analysis were applied to a total of 367 records from the period 1500–1599. The results identify 58 examples with frontispieces (15.8% of the sample), which were organized using an original taxonomy based on their technique and iconography. The analysis reveals the transition from woodcut to intaglio printing and the influence of architecture on the design of these elements, conceived as symbolic gateways to the content. Among the recommendations, the pedagogical usefulness of the repository for the knowledge of the frontispieces and certain limitations of the digital environment to identify engraving techniques are highlighted.@en
