                                    [description] => Studies dedicated to historical deniography are still very rare in Brazil, despite the relative variety of sources. The main obstacles to the enlargement of this field are access difficulties and lack of knowledge and indefinition of document collections that may contain demographic interest. This article presents the methodology followed by the research program on historical demography developped in Paraná, showing the possibility of researches in this new field, still very little studied in Brazilian historiography.
