                                            [0] => Our work aims to discuss forms of resistance among the Wai Wai, a Caribbean people. As our object of analysis, we have chosen a garment belonging to an ancient shaman named Ewka. We refer to this garment as a mantle, taking into account all the value and “sacred power” that imbued this piece and all the significance it holds to this day. After half a century, kept by those who still speak of Ewka, the mantle was eventually handed over to one of the authors of this work, so that it would not be destroyed by the MEVA religious institution, present on Wai Wai lands. Through the lens of the materialist school of Discourse Analysis, we will discuss this event — the removal of the sacred mantle - both as a gesture of resistance and as the salvation of the mantle, always preserved in the custody of memory.
                                            [1] => Nosso trabalho tem como meta discutir formas de resistência entre os Wai Wai, povo Caribe. Como objeto de análise tomamos uma vestimenta de um antigo pajé chamado Ewka. Nomeamos essa vestimenta de manto, levando em conta todo o valor e a “força sagrada” que revestiu essa peça e toda a significância que a constitui até hoje. Depois de meio século, guardado pelos que ainda referenciam Ewka, o manto acabou por ser entregue a uma das autoras desse trabalho, a fim de que não viesse ser destruído pela instituição religiosa MEVA, presente nas terras Wai Wai. Pelo viés da escola materialista de Análise do Discurso, discutiremos esse acontecimento – o desprendimento do manto sagrado – tanto como gesto de resistência, quanto como salvação do manto, sempre alojado na guarda da memória.
