                                            [0] => In light of Critical Discourse Analysis and Rhetoric, this article aims to unveil the discursive meanings of a tragic reality: the possible sinking of five neighborhoods in Maceió-AL, caused by the company Braskem, as it explores the subsoil for the extraction of rock salt since 1976, expelling more than one hundred thousand families from their homes starting in 2018. The corpus of this work is an Advertising Report released by the company in February 2021, based on terms of agreements (TACs) with public authorities – the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office and the State Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Municipality of Maceió and the State Government. The research is qualitative and the theoretical constructs are those of Aristotle (2005), Fairclough (2001), Ferreira (2015, 2021), Perelman; Olbrechts-Tyteca (2014), Santos (2011), Souza (2001, 2020), among others. In this way, by intertwining discursive arguments anchored by the verbal and the non-verbal, one perceives the use of referential elements to construct an imagistic texture of itself (Braskem) detached from the problem caused by itself – the greatest socio-environmental disaster in the world currently underway, through the language-world relationship, when it publicizes benevolent actions in favor of the families catapulted from their neighborhoods. These actions – the spell-actions – act as a cloud that masks reality.
 
                                            [1] => À luz da Análise Crítica do Discurso e da Retórica, este artigo objetiva descortinar as significações discursivas de uma realidade trágica: o possível afundamento de cinco bairros em Maceió-AL, provocado pela empresa Braskem, ao explorar o subsolo para extração do minério sal-gema, desde 1976, expulsando mais de cem mil famílias de suas casas, a partir de 2018. O corpus deste trabalho é um Informe Publicitário divulgado pela empresa, em fevereiro de 2021, a partir de termos de acordos (TACs) com as autoridades públicas – os Ministério Público Federal e o Ministério Público Estadual, a Prefeitura de Maceió e o Governo do Estado. A pesquisa é qualitativa e os constructos teóricos são os de Aristóteles (2005), Fairclough (2001), Ferreira (2015, 2021), Perelman; Olbrechts-Tyteca (2014), Santos (2011), Souza (2001, 2020), entre outros. Dessa maneira, ao entrelaçar argumentos discursivos ancorados pelo verbal e pelo não verbal), percebe-se o uso de elementos referentes para construir uma tessitura imagética de si (Braskem) descolada do problema causado por si – o maior desastre socioambiental do mundo em curso, pela relação linguagem-mundo, quando publiciza ações benevolentes em prol das famílias catapultadas de seus bairros. Essas ações – as ações-feitiço – agem como uma nuvem que mascara a realidade.
