[1] => This text addresses the phenomenon of migration, which has permanently forced millions of people to relocate, often to major cities, which become host territories. Comuna 1 (Popular) in Medellín has historically been a recipient of displaced populations. More recently, since 2010, there has been an increase in the arrival of people from neighboring countries, especially Venezuela, who are seeking opportunities in Colombia. By 2025, Colombia will be home to more than 2.8 million Venezuelan migrants, with Medellín receiving 229,429 of them. The national education system guarantees the right to education for these children and adolescents, regardless of their immigration status. In response to this reality, the Antonio Derka Santo Domingo Educational Institution, located in Comuna 1 and characterized by its enrollment of more than 3,000 students, created the project Migrants, Voices Without Borders. This initiative seeks to promote active engagement, intercultural learning, and emotional support for young migrants. The group has served as a space for dialogue where students express their experiences and address the psychological effects of migration (such as discomfort, sadness, and worry). The project highlights the need for schools to act as a protective environment, promoting recognition, social justice, and the strengthening of student leadership. The goal is for migrants to transcend their uprootedness and build new horizons of meaning.
