                    [0] => The Belgians Paul Otlet and Henri La Fontaine, in the end of the nineteenth century, created the International Institute of Bibliography that, in addition to creating a great source of universal information, pioneered the adoption of new ways of processing of documentary collections ushering in the design Documentation. Manoel Cicero Peregrino da Silva was director of the Brazilian National Library between the years 1900 and 1924, adopting several changes in the institution as the inauguration of a new building, the reorganization of its collection, creation of new services and, to some extent, like following track Otlet and La Fontaine. This thesis aims to make an inventory of stocks of Manoel Cicero Peregrino da Silva and to what extent these actions contributed to the Documentation in Brazil and its engagement in the ideals of Paul Otlet and La Fontaine. This is a qualitative and quantitative research, historical-documentary, based on documentation from different Brazilian archives and Mundaneum archive, from Belgium. To understand the ideals of Paul Otlet and Henri La Fontaine appealed to the writings of Otlet himself to Mattelart, Rayward, Blanquet and Wright, besides Brazilian theoreticians. It concludes that the role of Peregrino da Silva front of the National Library made the institution a center where converged intellectual discussions in the period; several of Paul Otlet and Henri La Fontaine ideas were put in place at the National Library and that this was the first institution to adopt the documentalists practices in the treatment of its collection and the development of its products and services.@en
                    [1] => Os belgas Paul Otlet e Henri La Fontaine, em finais do século XIX, criam o Instituto Internacional de Bibliografia que, para além de criar uma grande fonte de informação universal, foi pioneiro na adoção de novos modos de tratamento dos acervos documentais inaugurando a concepção de Documentação. Manoel Cícero Peregrino da Silva, diretor da Biblioteca Nacional brasileira entre 1900 e 1924, adotou várias mudanças na instituição, como a inauguração de um novo prédio, reorganização de seu acervo, criação de novos serviços e, em certa medida, segue a trilha aberta por Otlet e La Fontaine. Essa comunicação faz um inventário das ações de Peregrino da Silva buscando entender em que medida essas ações contribuíram para a Documentação no Brasil e seu engajamento nos ideais de Paul Otlet e La Fontaine. Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa, histórico-documental, baseada na documentação de diferentes arquivos brasileiros e no arquivo do Mundaneum, na Bélgica. Para compreender os ideais de Paul Otlet e Henri La Fontaine e o contexto em que eles se desenvolveram, utiliza-se os escritos do próprio Otlet e de estudiosos do tema como Mattelart, Rayward e Blanquet, além de teóricos brasileiros. Conclui que o papel de Peregrino da Silva à frente da Biblioteca Nacional fez da instituição um polo para onde confluíam as discussões intelectuais no período; que várias das ideias de Paul Otlet e Henri La Fontaine foram postas em prática na Biblioteca Nacional e que esta foi a primeira instituição a adotar as práticas documentalistas no tratamento de seu acervo e no desenvolvimento de seus produtos e serviços.@pt
