                    [0] => Stereotypes, standardized and mistaken views, affect the perception of the profession of librarian, especially in the school environment, influencing the choice of course by the entrance exam students. Thus, the aim of this research is to analyze how university students see the figure of the librarian through the stereotypes attributed to the profession. The study, which is descriptive and qualitative-quantitative in nature, is characterized as a case study using descriptive statistics. Data was collected using questionnaires administered to 24 third-year high school students from three schools in the Metropolitan Region of Recife. The most recurrent stereotypes were: a) gesture of silence; b) older person; c) grumpy; d) irritated; e) rigid; and f) formal, old-fashioned clothes. The students said they were aware of the activities carried out by librarians, but the majority restricted themselves to actions related exclusively to books, disregarding the social and cultural activities of this professional. Among the persistent stigmas is the association of librarians with silence, that they are completely oblivious to fashion and that they see the library as an outdated environment. Among the measures suggested, we highlight the appreciation of the true mission of the professional librarian, which goes far beyond the stereotypes crystallized in society.@en
                    [1] => Os estereótipos, visões padronizadas e equivocadas, afetam a percepção da profissão de bibliotecário, especialmente no âmbito escolar, influenciando a escolha do curso pelos vestibulandos. Desse modo, o objetivo desta pesquisa consiste em analisar como os vestibulandos enxergam a figura do bibliotecário por meio dos estereótipos atribuídos à profissão. O estudo, de caráter descritivo e natureza qualiquantitativa, caracteriza-se como um estudo de caso com aplicação do método de estatística descritiva. A coleta de dados foi realizada por meio de questionários aplicados a 24 estudantes do terceiro ano do ensino médio de três escolas da Região Metropolitana do Recife. Verificou-se que os estereótipos mais recorrentes foram: a) gesto de fazer silêncio; b) pessoa mais velha; c) mal-humarada; d) irritada; e) rígida; e f) roupas formais e antiquadas. Os alunos afirmaram ter conhecimento sobre as atividades desempenhadas pelo bibliotecário, mas a maioria restringiu-se às ações relacionadas exclusivamente aos livros, desconsiderando as atividades sociais e culturais desse profissional. Dentre os estigmas persistentes, destaca-se a associação do bibliotecário ao silêncio, que eles estão completamente alheios à moda e que entendem a biblioteca como um ambiente ultrapassado. Das medidas sugeridas, destaca-se a valorização da verdadeira missão do profissional bibliotecário, que vai muito além dos estereótipos cristalizados na sociedade.@pt
