Using an experimental application of the Brazilian Archival Description Standard (NOBRADE) and interviews with the school community, the study investigates the limits of technical description and the role of memory and affectivity in contextualizing images. Findings show that school photographs serve as instruments for preserving memory, fostering affective bonds, and reflecting on pedagogical practices.@en
