                                            [0] => Starting from the concept publishing model and applying a data analysis based on ISBN records in 16 American countries in a period of nine years (2013-2019), the paper argues that the production of academic books in the region does not respond, for the most part, to the interest of economic gain. Quite the opposite, it is shown that, progressively, the publishing agents not directly interested in commerce have been proportionally more relevant due to the number of titles related to academic subjects that they publish. Furthermore, this finding is supported by the increase in the publication of academic works whose editors classify, from the moment of their registration, as non-commercial.

 A la luz de la noción de modelo editorial y aplicando un análisis de datos a partir de los regsitros de ISBN en 16 países de América en un periodo de nueve años (2013-2019), el artículo sostiene que la producción de libros académicos en la región no responde, en su mayoría, al interés de ganancia económica producto del ejercicio de editoriales comerciales. Por el contrario, se demuestra que progresivamente han sido agentes editoriales no directamente interesados en el comercio los que son proporcionalmente más relevantes por la cantidad de títulos relacionados con materias académicas que publican. Además, soporta este hallazgo con el incremento que ha tenido la publicación de obras académicas cuyos editores catalogan, desde el momento mismo de su registro, como no comercializables.
