                    [0] => Spanish photojournalism emerged with force in the years of the Second Republic and was consolidated during the Civil War. However, by the 1920s and even before that decade photography had gradually replaced engraving in magazines and “illustrated” newspapers due to its greater immediacy and adherence to reality. Many of the figures responsible for that change are now just names beneath their photographs, among them that of Máximo Orrios. The present text sets out to discover the man behind that signature and to offer the first analysis of his work as a whole. Orrios, who was in his thirties at the start of the 20th century, engaged in various professions and had many hobbies, including photography. His evolution from Pictorialism to photojournalism and from amateur to professional not only defines him but also many of his unknown colleagues. Putting him and them under the spotlight has been the principal objective of this study.@en
                    [1] => El fotoperiodismo español emergió con fuerza en los años de la II República y se afianzó durante la Guerra Civil. Sin embargo, ya en la década de los veinte e incluso antes la fotografía había sustituido paulatinamente al grabado en las revistas y diarios “ilustrados” por su mayor inmediatez y apego a la actualidad. Muchos de los artífices de ese cambio hoy son solo nombres al pie de sus fotografías. El de Orrios era uno de esos nombres olvidados. Nuestro propósito ha sido descubrir al hombre detrás de esa firma e intentar un primer acercamiento al conjunto de su obra. Máximo Orrios vio llegar el siglo XX cuando rozaba la treintena, ejerció diversas profesiones y tuvo muchas aficiones, la fotografía entre ellas. Su evolución del pictorialismo al fotoperiodismo y del amateurismo a la profesionalización no solo le define a él sino también a muchos de sus desconocidos colegas. Ponerle/ponerlos bajo el foco, ha sido nuestro principal objetivo.@es
