[0] => Objective. A bibliometric analysis of research on indigenous cultural preservation was performed to identify thematic areas, academic collaboration, and the impact of utilitarian arts.
Design/Methodology/Approach. A bibliometric approach was employed, drawing upon Scopus data from 1986 to 2024. This approach entailed the analysis of thematic areas, international collaboration, and impact metrics. The management of the data was conducted in Mendeley, and the analysis was carried out using VOSviewer to identify collaboration patterns, thematic clusters, and the impact of utilitarian arts.
Results/Discussion. A comprehensive review of the extant literature yielded 574 documents addressing the subject of indigenous cultural preservation. These articles were classified into a wide range of thematic areas, with the majority falling within the domains of the social sciences, arts and humanities, and environmental sciences. The analysis indicated the presence of significant international collaboration, although opportunities persisted to fortify relations between developed and developing countries. A steady increase in the number of publications in recent years was also observed, indicating growing interest in this field.
Conclusions. Research on indigenous cultural preservation is interdisciplinary in nature, with a strong emphasis on the social sciences and humanities, and it is characterized by a growing international collaboration. While utilitarian arts and ecotourism hold relevance, their bibliometric impact is moderate. Gaps persist in areas such as indigenous languages and quantitative approaches.@en
