                                            [0] => Understood as a place of safekeeping, the Archive has its essential role in custody, especially with regard to the protection of permanent records. Brazilian laws and standards establish guidelines for the custody, treatment and preservation of these documents, but they run into difficulties caused by the lack of consolidated archival policies and the low supervisory competence of the responsible authorities. In this context, the discussion about shared custody gains relevance, especially because of the adoption of cloud computing services. Through a literature review that addresses the trajectory of the concept of custody in Archival Science — from the custodial and post-custodial currents to current digital preservation models — we analyze how custody remains central to the guarantee of authenticity, while at the same time it needs to be reinforced by the contracts that regulate the relationship between producers, preservers and service providers. We conclude that, despite the transformations in the supports and preservation environments, custody maintains a preponderant role in the archives, making it necessary to have a clear definition of responsibilities to ensure the protection and authenticity of digital records.
                                            [1] => Compreendido como um lugar de guarda, o Arquivo tem na custódia seu papel essencial, sobretudo no que se refere à proteção de documentos arquivísticos permanentes. As legislações e normas brasileiras estabelecem diretrizes para custódia, tratamento e preservação desses documentos, mas esbarram em dificuldades causadas pela falta de políticas arquivísticas consolidadas e pela baixa competência fiscalizatória das autoridades responsáveis. Nesse contexto, ganha relevância a discussão sobre custódia compartilhada, principalmente em decorrência da adoção de serviços de computação em nuvem. Por meio de uma revisão de literatura que aborda a trajetória do conceito de custódia na Arquivologia — das correntes custodial e pós custodial aos modelos de preservação digital atuais —, analisamos como a custódia permanece central para a garantia de autenticidade, ao mesmo tempo em que precisa ser reforçada pelos contratos que regulam a relação entre produtores, preservadores e provedores de serviços. Concluímos que, apesar das transformações nos suportes e nos ambientes de preservação, a custódia mantém papel preponderante nos arquivos, fazendo-se necessária uma definição clara de responsabilidades para assegurar a proteção e a autenticidade dos documentos arquivísticos digitais.
