                                            [0] => This paper critically examines the relations between librarianship and social responsibility, it does so in a number of ways; first the dominance of information technology in library and information science; then examines the discussion between "pragmatism" versus social responsibility; finally the contribution reports the disciplinary growth of our profession as a social scientific discipline. In this way, the author argues for the integration of this different trends in librarianship, but without missing our social responsibility.
                                            [1] => El presente artículo analiza críticamente las relaciones entre bibliotecología y responsabilidad social. En primera instancia se estudia el impacto de las tecnologías de la información en la profesión; Juego se reflexiona sobre el debate existente entre los bibliotecarios que se inclinan hacia una orientación "pragmática" y aquellos que defienden la responsabilidad social de nuestra actividad: finalmente se analiza la importancia de la profesión como una ciencia social científica e interdisciplinaria. Se sostiene la tesis de la necesidad de integrar estas orientaciones de un modo equilibrado, pero sin olvidar la importancia de la responsabilidad social en la educación bibliotecaria.
