                                            [0] => This article addresses the concerns of cultural heritage, human rights and memory studies researchers about extreme weather events in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, in 2023 and 2024. It analyzes the floods of September and November 2023 and May 2024, exploring, based on literature and possible relationships, the concepts of memory, duty of memory, human rights, antimonuments and memory politics. The text defends the remoration of human and material losses as an ethical duty to prevent future disasters and improve urban planning. Floods in Vale do Taquari caused 54 deaths in 2023 and 178 deaths in the state in 2024, with a total of 232 lives lost and 38 missing. The focus is on the impact in Vale do Taquari, which recorded 98 deaths and 25 missing people, but the conclusions can be applied to other areas of Rio Grande do Sul.
                                            [1] => Este artigo aborda as preocupações de pesquisadores de patrimônio cultural, direitos humanos e estudos de memória sobre os eventos climáticos extremos no Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil, em 2023 e 2024. Analisa as enchentes de setembro e novembro de 2023 e maio de 2024, explorando, a partir da literatura e de relações possíveis, os conceitos de memória, dever de memória, direitos humanos, antimonumentos e política de memória. O texto defende a rememoração das perdas humanas e materiais como um dever ético para prevenir futuros desastres e melhorar o planejamento urbano. As enchentes no Vale do Taquari causaram 54 mortes em 2023 e 178 mortes no Estado em 2024, com um total de 232 vidas perdidas e 38 desaparecidos. O foco é no impacto no Vale do Taquari, que registrou 98 óbitos e 25 desaparecidos, mas as conclusões podem ser aplicadas a outras áreas do Rio Grande do Sul.
