                                            [0] => The dynamics of scientific publication implies that the current pieces of work rely on precedent ones, configuring themselves as the base for future research. This work presents a bibliometric analysis of the bibliographic references contained in the papers published by the Institute of Marine Biology (IBM) and the National Institute for Fisheries Research and Development (INIDEP) during the period 1961-2019, in order to determine its researchers’ information consumption habits and inner citation patterns. In particular, it is intended to reveal whether the scientific production generated within this Institute is eventually transformed by its personnel into supply of future research; and whether there is thematic affinity between IBM/INIDEP’s publications and the papers that its researchers consume and produce. The descriptive and correlational statistical calculations allow the conclusion that most of the efforts dedicated to IBM/INIDEP’s production are not considered by its own researchers as sources upon which new scientific papers are based, although there is indeed thematic affinity between the citing papers, the cited production and, even, the institutional interests.
                                            [1] => La dinámica de la publicación científica implica que los trabajos actuales se apoyan en otros precedentes, configurándose como la base de futuras investigaciones. Este trabajo presenta un análisis bibliométrico de las referencias bibliográficas contenidas en los artículos científicos publicados por el Instituto de Biología Marina (IBM) y por el Instituto Nacional de Investigación y Desarrollo Pesquero (INIDEP) durante el período 1961-2019, con el propósito de determinar los hábitos de consumo de información y los patrones de citación interna de sus investigadores. En particular, se busca develar si la producción científica generada hacia el interior de este Instituto es eventualmente transformada por su personal en insumo de investigaciones futuras; y de si existe afinidad temática entre las publicaciones del IBM/INIDEP y los artículos que sus investigadores consumen y producen. Los cálculos estadísticos descriptivos y de correlación permiten arribar a la conclusión de que la mayor parte de los esfuerzos dedicados a la producción del IBM/INIDEP no son contemplados por sus propios investigadores como fuentes sobre las que basar nuevos artículos científicos, aunque sí se evidencia que existe afinidad temática entre los papers citantes, la producción citada e, incluso, los intereses institucionales.
