Based on the who/e number of documents produced, the Departmentperformance was estimated. For that, the biblíographic production in the period, the produced documents category, the production time behavior for each document category and the language used in the production of theses documets considered, together with the authorship characteristics of the papers in periods, congresses and similar events, taking into account the periods in wich the papers were publíshed and the events wherethe papers were presented. The total amount of publícations was 397, distributed into seven categories, the major part being registered as papers present in congresses and similars. The time behavior observed varied quite enough during the period, and the year 1971 was the more productive. The great majority of works were publíshed in Portuguese. The average Department production in 31 years was 20,89 documents for each researcher and the year average was 1,38
                                            [1] => Análise quantitativa da produção bibliográfica de um Departamento de uma Escola de Engenharia oficial do Estado de São Paulo, no período de 1955 a 1985.Com base na contagem dos documentos produzidos procurou-se estimar o desempenho do Departamento. Para tanto foi verificado a produção bibliográfica no período, as categorias dos documentos produzido, o comportamento temporal da produção por tipo de documento, a língua de publicação desses documentos, as características de autoria dos artigos de periódicos e das comunicações em congressos e similares, os periódicos que publicaram os artigos e os eventos em que foram apresentadas as comunicações. O total de trabalhos produzidos foi de 397 distribuídos em sete categorias, sendo registrada a maior produção de comunicações em congressos e similares. O comportamento temporal observado variou bastante durante o período, sendo que o ano de 1971 foi o mais produtivo. Os trabalhos foram publicados em sua maioria em língua portuguesa. A média de produção nos 31anos foi de 20,89documentos por professor e a média anual foi de 1,38.
