                                            [0] => This article analyzes the terms “avaliação” and “seleção” and their definitions in Brazilian archival terminology, in addition, also analyzes the concepts “evaluation” and “selection” expressed in practical instruments of document management. In this sense, it aims to investigate the structure of the conceptual definition and the structure of the terminological definition of “avaliação” and “seleção” in Brazilian archival science. It presents as a methodology a literature review, a bibliographic survey, and, also, a documental analysis of the instruments of document management. As part of the results, it identifies the lack of consensus and consequent terminological standardization in Brazilian archival science, especially about the concepts and terms analyzed, and highlights how this fact can represent harm to archival practices. It is important to increase that the English term “appraisal” is equivalent to “avaliação”, in Portuguese, and doesn’t exist match an English term with the Portuguese term “seleção”.
                                            [1] => Examina os termos “avaliação” e “seleção” e suas definições na terminologia arquivística brasileira, além dos conceitos “avaliação” e “seleção” expressos em instrumentos práticos de gestão de documentos. Nesse sentido, possui como objetivo investigar a estrutura da definição conceitual e a estrutura da definição terminológica de “avaliação” e “seleção” na arquivologia brasileira. Apresenta como metodologia uma revisão de literatura, levantamento bibliográfico e, também, uma análise documental dos já citados instrumentos de gestão. Como parte dos resultados, identifica a falta de um consenso e consequente padronização terminológica na arquivologia brasileira, sobretudo em relação aos conceitos e termos analisados, e destaca o quanto esse fato pode representar malefícios às práticas em arquivos.
