                                            [0] => The meanings of the public library as a cultural practice in the context of the region of Sancti Spiritus, from a longitudinal inquiry into the relationship of the library and the context, identifying the social uses and practices of cultural consumption and characterization of popular culture. The qualitative methodology guided the research work on the basis of information obtained through biographical method, enriched the life stories, drawn from depth interviews and group discussions. Research provides new insights into the relationship public library-culture in the light of a perspective rarely used in librarian science studies, which promotes comprehension attributed by subjects to their everyday consumption practices of cultural significance.
                                            [1] => Se exponen, con el enfoque estudios culturales, los significados de la biblioteca pública como práctica cultural en el contexto de la región de Sancti Spíritus, a partir de una indagación longitudinal sobre las relaciones de la biblioteca y el contexto, la identificación de los usos sociales y prácticas de consumo cultural y la caracterización de la cultura popular. La metodología cualitativa guió el quehacer investigativo, sobre la base de la información obtenida por medio del método biográfico, enriquecido con los relatos de vida, elaborados a partir de las entrevistas en profundidad y el grupo de discusión. La investigación aporta nuevos conocimientos sobre la relación biblioteca pública-cultura a la luz de una perspectiva poco utilizada en los estudios bibliotecológicos, la cual favorece la comprensión del significado atribuido por los sujetos a sus prácticas cotidianas de consumo cultural.
