                    [0] => Introduction: Hospital indicators guide and reflect the status of the organization and they allow managers to gain insight into the process, as well as increase patient satisfaction.Objective: To propose a synthetic index to contribute to improving patient flow management in hospitals.Methods: A synthetic index was proposed based on a three-stage procedure for patient flow management in hospitals. Empirical methods were integrated, such as literature review, bibliometric mapping, hierarchical analytical process, and the construction of synthetic indicators.Results: Six key variables that characterize patient flow management in hospitals were identified. These variables were associated with indicators collected from the literature, hospital processes, and by specialists. Six synthetic indices were constructed based on key variables, which were in turn grouped into a synthetic index for patient flow management in hospital institutions.Conclusions: Hospital management control must be carried out proactively. Its operationalization, based on the synthetic indicator proposed to evaluate patient flow management, allows healthcare managers to make agile decisions focused on reducing interruptions and waiting times. These indicators directly impact patient satisfaction and hospital performance by considering key variables such as the sequence of activities, trajectory focus, demand, capacity, computerization, and capacity from a holistic perspective.@en
                    [1] => Introducción: Los indicadores hospitalarios orientan y traducen el estado de la organización y permiten al gestor tener información del proceso, así como aumentar el grado de satisfacción de los pacientes.Objetivo: Proponer un índice sintético en contribución a la mejora de la gestión de los flujos de pacientes en instituciones hospitalarias.Métodos: Se propuso un índice sintético a partir de un procedimiento para la gestión de flujos de pacientes en instituciones hospitalarias, que se estructuró en tres etapas. Se integraron métodos empíricos como la revisión bibliográfica, los mapas bibliométricos, el proceso analítico jerárquico, y la construcción de indicadores sintéticos.Resultados: Se identificaron seis variables clave que caracterizan la gestión de los flujos de pacientes en instituciones hospitalarias. A estas se asociaron indicadores recopilados en la literatura, en los procesos del hospital y por los especialistas. Se construyeron seis índices sintéticos por variables clave que, a su vez, se agruparon en un índice sintético para la gestión de los flujos en instituciones hospitalarias.Conclusiones: El control de gestión hospitalario se debe realizar de forma proactiva. Su operacionalización, a partir del indicador sintético propuesto para evaluar la gestión de los flujos de pacientes, permite a los gestores sanitarios tomar decisiones ágiles enfocadas en disminuir las interrupciones y los tiempos espera. Estos indicadores repercuten directamente en la satisfacción del paciente y el rendimiento hospitalario, al considerar variables clave como la secuencia de actividades, el enfoque en la trayectoria, la demanda, la capacidad, la informatización y la capacidad desde un enfoque holístico.@es
