                    [0] => Introduction: Among the ethical aspects of developing academic work and research projects, academic plagiarism is a critical issue to consider.Objective: To identify the knowledge and attitudes of dental students regarding academic plagiarism in the Peruvian university setting.Methods: The study included 225 students from the dental school, randomly selected from the total number enrolled in the 2020-2021 academic year at Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, Lima, Peru. Perceptions were assessed using a scale of attitudes and knowledge regarding aspects of academic plagiarism. All information was collected using a Google Forms template, sent to participants via institutional email. Data were analyzed in Stata version 17 with measures of central tendency and dispersion, and a Pearson correlation test for correlation.Results: Out of the total participants, 50.2% had a fair level and 36.4% had a poor level. Attitudes were neutral in 51.1% of cases and favorable in 48.9%. A significant correlation was identified among knowledge scores and attitudes (r = 0.5; p = 0.03). The level of knowledge was associated with age, sex, and scientific publication experience; attitudes were associated with age and publication experience (p < 0.05). It is concluded that participants had inadequate levels of knowledge but neutral and favorable attitudes. Furthermore, a significant relationship was identified among knowledge scores and attitudes.Conclusions: Based on the results, it is necessary for universities to engage students in ethical aspects of research, implementing strategies to mitigate academic plagiarism practices.@en
                    [1] => Introducción: Dentro de los aspectos éticos en el desarrollo de trabajos académicos y proyectos de investigación, el plagio académico es un punto crítico para considerar. Objetivo: Identificar los conocimientos y actitudes de estudiantes de Odontología sobre el plagio académico en el ámbito universitario peruano. Métodos: El estudio incluyó 225 estudiantes de Odontología, seleccionados de forma aleatoria del total de matriculados en el período 2020-II, en la Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, Lima, Perú. La percepción se evaluó mediante una escala de actitudes y conocimientos sobre aspectos del plagio académico. Toda la información se recopiló mediante un formulario de Google Forms, enviado a los participantes vía correo electrónico institucional. Los datos se analizaron en Stata versión 17 con medidas de tendencias central y dispersión, y prueba correlación de Pearson para la relación. Resultados: Del total de participantes, el 50,2 % presentó nivel regular y el 36,4 % malo. Las actitudes fueron de tendencia neutra en el 51,1 % y favorable en 48,9 %. Se identificó correlación significativa entre puntajes de conocimientos y actitudes (r = 0,5; p = 0,03). El nivel de conocimiento se asoció con la edad, el sexo y la experiencia de publicación científica; las actitudes con la edad y la experiencia en publicaciones (p < 0,05). Se concluye que los participantes tienen niveles no adecuados de conocimientos, pero actitudes neutras y favorables. Además, se identificó una relación significativa entre puntajes de conocimientos y actitudes. Conclusiones: Con base en los resultados es necesario que las universidades involucren a los estudiantes en aspectos éticos de investigación, aplicando estrategias para mitigar prácticas de plagio académico.@es
