                                            [0] => Com este trabalho, pretendemos trazer contribuições para ampliar o conhecimento sobre a participação do continente africano na construção do pensamento ocidental. Assim, consideramos o evento histórico da relação entre Roma e a denominada África do Norte, focando em três escritores africanos da referida região: Terêncio, Tertuliano e Agostinho. Os dois primeiros eram cartagineses, o último nasceu em Tagaste. Para uma melhor compreensão desses autores, e da importância do pensamento e obra de cada um deles, consideramos o fato de que cada um viveu em um contexto histórico próprio: Terêncio (século II a.C.) numa Cartago que se negava a ser subjugada pela República Romana; Tertuliano (século II-século III d.C.) conheceu uma Cartago anexada ao Império Romano; Agostinho de Hipona (354-430 d.C.) experimentou a dissolução do referido Império. Estes três intelectuais africanos, cada um a seu modo, deixaram suas fortes marcas no pensamento que nos ensinaram a chamar de ocidental.
                                            [1] => With this work, we intend to contribute to expanding knowledge about the participation of the African continent in the construction of Western thought. Thus, we consider the historical event of the relationship between Rome and the so-called North Africa, focusing on three African writers from that region: Terence, Tertullian and Augustine. The first two were Carthaginians, the last was born in Tagaste. In order to better understand these authors, and the importance of the thought and work of each of them, we consider the fact that each one lived in a specific historical context: Terence (2nd century BC) in a Carthage that refused to be subjugated by the Roman Republic; Tertullian (2nd century-3rd century AD) knew a Carthage annexed to the Roman Empire; Augustine of Hippo (354-430 AD) experienced the dissolution of that Empire. These three African intellectuals, each in their own way, left their strong marks on the thought that we have been taught to call Western.
                                            [2] => Con este trabajo pretendemos aportar contribuciones para ampliar el conocimiento sobre la participación del continente africano en la construcción del pensamiento occidental. Así, consideramos el acontecimiento histórico de las relaciones entre Roma y el llamado Norte de África, centrándonos en tres escritores africanos de la citada región: Terencio, Tertuliano y Agustín. Los dos primeros eran cartagineses, el último nació en Tagaste. Para una mejor comprensión de estos autores, y la importancia del pensamiento y obra de cada uno de ellos, consideramos el hecho de que cada uno vivió en su propio contexto histórico: Terencio (siglo II a.C.) en una Cartago que se negaba a ser subyugada por la República Romana; Tertuliano (siglos II-III d.C.) conoció una Cartago anexionada al Imperio romano; Agustín de Hipona (354-430 d.C.) vivió la disolución del citado Imperio. Estos tres intelectuales africanos, cada uno a su manera, dejaron sus fuertes huellas en el pensamiento que nos enseñaron a llamar occidental.
