                                            [0] => The Church of St. Joseph of Ribamar, located in the Barrio de San José, Recife / PE, is a cultural heritage recognized by the National Heritage Institute of Art (IPHAN). In this study want to observe the urban context in which the cultural object is inserted to discuss the symbolic meanings that the building takes in Recife. While we are focused on uses and values attributed to the building we realize that these are connected to the historical process of occupation of the urban area of Recife, in particular with the district where it is located and names. We therefore wish to argue that the Church of St. Joseph of Ribamar is a historical monument documenting different historical processes experienced by the city of Recife.
                                            [1] => A Igreja de São José do Ribamar, localizada no Bairro de São José, Recife/PE, é um bem material reconhecido pelo Instituto do Patrimônio Histórico Artístico Nacional (IPHAN). Neste estudo desejamos observar o contexto urbano em que esse bem cultural se insere para debater os significados simbólicos que a edificação assume na Cidade do Recife. Embora estejamos centrado nos usos e valores atribuídos à edificação percebemos que esses estão ligados ao  processo histórico de ocupação da área urbana do Recife, em particular com o bairro onde se insere e nomeia. Desejamos, portanto, argumentar que a Igreja de São José do Ribamar é um monumento histórico que documenta diferentes processos históricos vividos pela cidade do Recife.
