                                            [0] => The article aims to present an overview of the work developed in the community libraries of São Paulo and to propose reflections on the contribution of Library Science courses in the critical and political training of professionals to work in these spaces. The study is based on a theoretical framework on community libraries, the social function of Librarianship and public policies for books, reading and the library; and data collection on three community libraries in the city of São Paulo, located in peripheral regions marked by high levels of social vulnerability. Results confirm that community libraries arise from local needs resulting from the scarcity of cultural public policies, act in encouraging reading, in the development of communities and in democratizing access to information and culture. Stand out the importance of articulation in library networks, which give national and local scope to these initiatives. It is concluded that there is a need for a closer approximation of Library Science courses with this reality, becoming an opportunity to question and reflect on the training of librarians in addition to the technical and administrative aspects provided for in the curricular structures, in order to contribute to the training reader, critic and autonomous citizen. Finally, the need to intensify the debate about these devices is emphasized.
                                            [1] => O artigo tem como objetivo elaborar um panorama do trabalho desenvolvido nas bibliotecas comunitárias de São Paulo e propor reflexões sobre a contribuição dos cursos de Biblioteconomia na formação crítica e política de profissionais para a atuação nesses espaços. O estudo tem como base referencial teórico sobre as bibliotecas comunitárias, a função social da Biblioteconomia e as políticas públicas para o livro, a leitura e a biblioteca; e coleta de dados sobre três bibliotecas comunitárias da cidade de São Paulo, localizadas em regiões periféricas marcadas por altos índices de vulnerabilidade social. Os resultados confirmam que as bibliotecas comunitárias surgem das necessidades locais resultantes da escassez de políticas públicas culturais, atuam no incentivo à leitura, no desenvolvimento das comunidades e na democratização do acesso à informação e à cultura. Destacase a importância da articulação em redes de bibliotecas, que dão amplitude nacional e local a essas iniciativas. Conclui-se pela necessidade de uma maior aproximação dos cursos de Biblioteconomia com a realidade das bibliotecas comunitárias, buscando questionar e refletir sobre a formação dos bibliotecários para além dos aspectos técnico-administrativos previstos nas estruturas curriculares, de modo a contribuir para a formação leitora, crítica e autônoma do cidadão. Por fim, ressalta-se a necessidade da intensificação do debate acerca desses dispositivos.
