[0] => Objective: to analyze the norms for authors regarding the use of AI in journals in the e-learning category in the Scimago ranking.
Methods: it was a sequential study (CUAN-CUAL). In the quantitative phase, the authors analyzed the presence, type, and location of the information. In the qualitative one there was a textual approach of the genre (instructions to authors) and a contextual approach (other sections of the journal´s website).
Results: 68 journals were analyzed, which belonged to different quartiles: Q1 (n= 17), Q2 (n= 18), Q3 (n= 17), Q4 (n= 16). A third of the sample (33%) did not include indications on authors´ use of AI. The authors identified three categories in the content analysis: use of generative AI and large-scale language models (LLM), use of non-generative AI, and authors´ responsibility.
Conclusions: there is still no uniform position on what to regulate and how to declare the permitted use of AI; and where in the manuscript to do so.@en
