                                            [0] => The objective of this article is to analyze how Brazilian public schools deal with libraries and reading rooms. Thinking about this topic is essential to understand a little about the educational development of Brazil, analyzing spaces that contribute to the formation of critical subjects, spaces that are used by children and young people in public schools. The research methodology is exploratory-descriptive in nature, using bibliographical surveys on topics involving Brazilian public schools, in addition to the conceptualization of school libraries, reading rooms and school community, offering examples in the Brazilian context. It is observed that Brazilian school libraries and reading rooms, despite facing major structural problems, are capable of offering the democratization of reading to the school community. On the other hand, it is understood that the school community should take greater ownership of the reading spaces that are its right, as well as inform itself and demand continuous improvements, in order to understand the true value of these places.
                                            [1] => O objetivo do artigo consiste em analisar como as escolas públicas brasileiras lidam com as bibliotecas e salas de leitura. Pensar nesta temática é fundamental para entender um pouco sobre o desenvolvimento educacional do Brasil, analisando-se espaços que contribuem para a formação de sujeitos críticos, espaços estes que são utilizados por crianças e jovens de escolas públicas. A metodologia de pesquisa é de natureza exploratório-descritiva, recorrendo-se a levantamentos bibliográficos sobre temas que envolvem as escolas públicas brasileiras, além da conceituação de bibliotecas escolares, salas de leitura e comunidade escolar, oferecendo exemplos em contexto brasileiro. Observa-se que as bibliotecas escolares e salas de leitura brasileiras, apesar de enfrentarem grandes problemas estruturais, são capazes de oferecer a democratização da leitura à comunidade escolar. Por outro lado, entende-se que a comunidade escolar deve apropriar-se mais dos espaços de leitura que são de seu direito, assim como deve se informar e exigir melhorias contínuas, para entender o verdadeiro valor destes locais.
