                                            [0] => Four bibliographic formats. broadly used in argentine libraries (CEPAL, FOCAO, BIBUN, and SIGEBI), are compared with USMARC and UNIMARC in order to assess their compliance with the recommendations for improvement of subject searches in on-line catalogs, and their possibilities for information exchange witl1 other systems. We conclude that the formats used in Argentina show deficiencies in the treatment of subject headings. identifiers, non-controlled terms, and form/genre terms, having no complementary authority and classification data formats. In addition, several differences in the number and repeatibility of subfields may difficult the information exchange with other national and international systems.
                                            [1] => Se evalúan comparativamente cuatro formatos bibliográficos de uso extendido en Argentina (CEPAL, FOCAD, BIBUN y SIGEBI) con USMARC y UNIMARC, analizando su adecuación a las recomendaciones para mejorar la búsqueda por materia en los catálogos en línea, y sus posibilidades para el intercambio de información con otros sistemas. Se concluye que los formatos usados en Argentina presentan deficiencias en el tratamiento de epígrafes, identificadores, términos no controlados y términos de forma o género, careciendo de formatos complementarios de autoridades y datos de la clasificación. Además, las marcadas diferencias, especialmente en la cantidad y repetibilidad de subcampos, pueden dificultar el intercambio de información con otros sistemas, tanto nacionales como internacionales.
