                                            [0] => The National Newspaper Library is the repository that oversees journals edited and printed in México, while the institution is responsible for generating query tools to guide users through newspapers analysis, catalogs, indexes, studies and facsimile editions of the magazines and newspapers of greater importance. This article provides an overview of the role of journalism and how staff of the Bibliographic Research Institute, which administers the National Library, responds ist duty as a provider of catalogs, finding aids, etc. for researchers, teachers, students and general public, so they seek newspapers as a source of information; and so, it also diffuses the works in its custody.
                                            [1] => La Hemeroteca Nacional de México constituye el repositorio que resguarda las publicaciones periódicas editadas en la república mexicana; al mismo tiempo, la institución se encarga de generar instrumentos de consulta para orientar a sus usuarios a través de análisis de periódicos, catálogos, índices, estudios y ediciones facsimilares de las revistas y artículos de diarios más trascendentes. Este trabajo ofrece una visión panorámica sobre la función del periodismo y la manera en que el personal del Instituto de Investigaciones Bibliográficas, que administra a la Hemeroteca Nacional, responde a sus funciones de generar instrumentos de consulta para que los investigadores, profesores, estudiantes y público en general se acerquen a las fuentes hemerográficas. Así, también difunde las publicaciones que custodia.
